MEREBA - RIDER

via Soulbounce

Singer/songwriter/producer Mereba is back with a new single "Rider," and we welcome her return. Over the mellow, mid-tempo bop produced by Dreamville’s Elite, she sings of her total submission to new love. Her tone emits the daze of budding romance as she sings, “ Be your rider / I wanna satisfy you / A little kush, I'm floating / I wanna push up on him / That's true sh*t, I don't usually do this / Oh, but you light my fire.”

We first heard a snippet of “Rider” during her live performance as part of Klipsch’s Out Loud series. The acoustic appearance featured a medley of both the new single and "Planet U" from her 2019 album, The Jungle Is The Only Way Out. She also answered a few rapid-fire questions including her most embarrassing moment and her favorite performance venue. Those of us in the Washington, D.C. area were psyched to hear her bittersweet declaration of U-Street Music Hall as one of her favorite places to play. Like music lovers and artists all over the country, we were saddened to see this staple among so many other live music venues forced to close due to the pandemic. Many have banded together and over $1 million has been raised in support of these integral fixtures via #SaveOurStages, though donations are still needed. As we start to regain some sense of normalcy, we should continue to "ride" for the culture and do our part to ensure that the beat does indeed go on.
